The Clarkfield City Council hosted a full room at their regular meeting Tuesday as 15 community leaders representing Clarkfield, the Clarkfield Economic Development Authority, Yellow Medicine County and Yellow Medicine East along with developer Bernie Frey met to discuss the fate of the H.A. Hagg school building in Clarkfield.
Everyone present at the meeting expressed a desire to save the building from the crumbling destiny associated with shuttered school buildings in small country towns.
“I think we have to do everything we can to make sure that building doesn’t go down that road. Not on our watch,” said Clarkfield EDA Director Berdette Schoep.
Fisheries Biologist Chris Domeier of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be the featured expert giving a presentation on the health of the fish in the Minnesota River at a special presentation to be held at the Montevideo/Chippewa County Public Library on May 16th (Wednesday) at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

According to Superintendent Al Stoeckman, Peterson said the compensation package was insufficient to compel him to move.
