    • PHOTO GALLERY: The Roxy Theater comes down

    • On Thursday morning the Yellow Medicine County Highway Department completed the demolition of the historic Roxy Theater building in downtown Clarkfield. Built in 1919, the historic structure was originally erected to serve as Olson & Lund’s Clarkfield Garage, providing townsfolk with automobile accessories and repairs, battery service and welding. The transition to a social place of recreation that would come to be known as The Roxy began in the 30s. Over the year's the facility has housed a theater, bowling alley, pool hall and restaurant––sometimes all at once. The theater closed in the mid-70s but contained a restaurant and other happenings and services for a number of years thereafter before falling into disrepair.
