Belva (Wilkening) Timm, 86, of Wood Lake, passed away February 23, 2012, at the Granite Manor in Granite Falls.
Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the church. Belva Ruth (Wilkening) Timm was born on March 20, 1925 in Granite Falls to Walter and Mabel (Plath) Wilkening. She graduated from Granite Falls High School. On June 25, 1947 Belva married Vernon Timm. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake where she was very active and had served as a Sunday School teacher. Belva had worked as City Clerk in Wood Lake for 25 years and prior to 1959 had owned and operated a restaurant in Wood Lake. She was active in many community events and had belonged to a Homemakers Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Belva loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren who loved spending a week in Wood Lake during the Wood Lake Fair and in going on camping trips and vacations with their grandparents. She enjoyed camping, reading, gardening and playing card games with the grandkids.
Belva is survived by her husband Vernon of Granite Falls; children; Terry (Rebecca) Timm of Cottonwood, Pam (James) Crenna of Maple Grove and Brad (Susan) Timm of Wood Lake; grandchildren; Shelly (John) Nikolou, Chad (Heather) Timm, Christopher Timm, Randi (Collin) Zimmerman, Derek Timm, and Austin Timm; great grandchildren; Henry, Liza, Malia Timm and Graham Nikolou. Also surviving are siblings; Lois (Ralph) Kinney, Sharon (James) Opheim, Walter Wilkening, Robert Wilkening, and sister-in-law, Ione Braun.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son Jeffery Timm; siblings: Earl, Don, Richard and Shirley Wilkening; and nephew Gene Wilkening.
Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are in charge of the arrangements.
