Hazel Gloria Hoff, 82, of Renville, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the Granite Falls Manor in Granite Falls.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Renville. The Rev. Dean Nosek will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville. Visitation continues on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church in Renville.
Hazel Gloria Hoff was born on July 14, 1929, on the family farm west of Renville to Carl and Ella (Gustavson) Jevne. She grew up on the family farm and graduated with honors from Renville High School in 1947. Hazel was united in marriage to Clarence Palmer Hoff on January 26, 1948, in Delano. Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm and together they raised their family and Hazel assisted her parents with the family store – The Wayside Inn. In 1945, Hazel began doing income taxes for her parents and other clients and continued to do so until 2010. Hazel also worked at the insurance office in Sacred Heart for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Renville and was active in many church groups. She has also served as financial officer at church for many years. Hazel served as co-chair for the blood mobile, and served as officer for the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking and cooking, and loved preparing Sunday dinners for her family.
Survivors include her children: Clayton (Linda) Hoff of Pella, Iowa; Curtis (Carole) Hoff of Sacred Heart; Christy (Julie) Hoff of Renville; and Connie Eischens (special friend Scott Rowberg) of Hanley Falls; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence in 1993; her great granddaughter Alexis Lippert; her son-in-law Alan Eischens; her brothers Owen and Calvin; and her sister, Mildred Grove.
Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Home of Renville.
