Mary Louise Reiten, 74, of Sacred Heart, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at her home in Sacred Heart. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 10, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, officiated by The Rev. Dale Svendsen. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mary Louise Reiten was born on September 30, 1937, in Sacred Heart to Henry and Esther Ingera (Hagen) Bagaus. She grew up in Sacred Heart and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Mary was united in marriage to Odell Orland Reiten on June 17, 1956, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Mary and Odell made their home in Sacred Heart and Mary worked for Warner Manufacturing for a short time. She later owned and operated the Wagon Wheel and Our Family Cafés in Sacred Heart. For the last years, Mary has worked in food service and housekeeping at Project Turnabout in Granite Falls. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, served on the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School, and was active in Bible studies at church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered for the Relay for Life. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, camping and fishing, embroidering, spending time with her friends, and playing with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Odell, her daughters and son: Deb (Myrle) Peterson of Belview, Tim Reiten of Sacred Heart, and Pam Reiten of Sacred Heart; nine grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her brother Harold (Joyce) Bagaus of Stacy; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son David, her great grandson Xander, and her brothers and sister: Emerald, Millard, and Marma.
Arrangements were by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Sacred Heart.
