The host school took both first and fourth place at the invitational, while a pair of West Central Conference rivals fell into second and third place.

No easy day for golf, as the temperatures stayed around 40 degrees and the wind gusted at roughly 20 miles-per-hour.

Two teams YME will see plenty of this season, Benson and Montevideo were seperated by just a stroke. Benson claimed second place (326), which left Montevideo to land in third (327).

The Sting, meanwhile, came in behind the second of three teams Marshall trotted out for the match. The Sting swung a 351 as a team, 10 strokes behind Marshall’s second team and 25 strokes behind conference foe Benson.

YME sophomore, Mitch McCosh, drove the Sting with an 81, which placed him just three strokes out of fifth place and seven strokes behind meet-winner Matt Bennett of Marshall.
Other notable top finishers included Sam Peterson from Benson, who placed second with a 75 and Phillip Ward of Monte, who took fourth with a 78.

Rounding out YME’s remaining top five: Charles Blue swung an 88, Spencer McCosh an 89, Jordan Zens a 93, Sam Jans 94 and Mason Frerichs 112.
