    Yellow Medicine East lost their  West Central Conference opener 5-2 to New London-Spicer Tuesday in New London.
     
    The Sting got two wins in singles-play. David Nowacki gutted out a marathon 7-6 (7-5), 2-0 victory over NL-S’s Cody Treptau. And in similar fashion, YME’s Carter Iverson went the distance against NL-S’s Eli Nelson to win a 7-5, 6-4 match.
     
    The Sting would be swept in doubles play.
     
    YME is now 1-1 on the season after opening conference play with a loss. They will play Luverne Thursday in Pipestone.
