    Benson/KMS beat Montevideo by seven strokes Monday and earned the lone bonus point needed to pass Montevideo and earn the victory at the West Central Conference South Championships at the Benson Golf Club.

    Benson/KMS beat Montevideo by seven strokes Monday and earned the lone bonus point needed to pass Montevideo and earn the victory at the West Central Conference South Championships at the Benson Golf Club.
     
    Benson/KMS’s Jordan Burns and Sam Peterson both shot 36 to claim medalist honors and led the Braves’ comeback in what had been a tight race throughout the seven-match season between the two programs.
     
    The Thunder Hawks and Braves now share the conference title with 45 points. Morris/Chokio-Alberta placed third with 29 points. Yellow Medicine East came in fifth in the conference race with 24 points.
     
    The Sting were fourth at Monday’s meet firing a 168.
     
    Charles Blue led the Sting with a 38 while Jordan Zens followed with a 39. Meanwhile, Spencer McCosh fired a 44, while brother Mitch came in with a 47.
     
    For the season, Mitch McCosh would earn All-Conference honors after coming in fifth in the individual conference standing.

    Montevideo won its third straight West Central South Conference meet of the season by edging Benson/KMS by one stroke Friday.
     
    Philip Ward’s 39, a pair of 40s carded by Tyler Sachariason and Derek Bruns, and a 41 turned in by Grant Tufto added up to a 160 for Montevideo. Benson/KMS got three 40s from Nathan Hawley, Sam Peterson and Zach Maurer, and a 41 from Brody Gimberlin.
    The Sting's top golfer was Mitch McCosh, who carded a 41. Taking medalist honors was Morris' Jordan Kolden, who finished with a 37.
     
    Also from YME, Jordan Zens logged a 43, while Spencer McCosh tapped a 48 and Charles Blue added a 51.
