  • Clean Up the River Environment (CURE) will again be offering a free weekly summer paddling outing entitled “Immersions with Isak” for area residents ages 12 and up.
Floats will be led on the Chippewa and Minnesota Rivers on Thursdays in June and July from 6-9:00 p.m. by CURE intern Isak Kvam. Kvam’s family farms in Stony Run Township.  He is a graduate of YME High School and an Environ-mental Studies Major at Luther College.
This is the third year in a row that CURE has been able to offer this program which previously has been named “Kayak with Kate”  (Eggers) and “Adventures with Amelia” (Bergquist)“
Many people have not taken the time to explore the beauty of our river valley,” Kvam said. “This is a perfect opportunity to do so while learning to canoe or kayak or sharing a relaxing evening with friends.”
Kvam hopes that area businesses and clubs will take advantage of his services. In previous years, CURE’s program has been popular with local youth and women’s groups.
The Thursday outings began June 7 and will end July 26.  Pre-registration is requested each week and reservations will be on a first come, first served basis.  No more than 10 paddlers will be allowed on each outing.
Anyone interested can call/text Isak at 320-226-8196 or by e-mailing kayak@cureriver.org. Area residents are being asked to follow Immersions with Isak on Facebook or Twitter (@ImmersionsIsak) for up to the minute news and developments for each week’s outing.
