This past week local High School Rodeo athletes competed at the National High School Rodeo Association National Finals in Gillette Wyoming.
From Granite Falls and Hanley Falls, Dani Aus, Gannon Gustafson and Teagan Gustafson all qualified for the week-long event along with 1,500 other high school students from across the country.
Recently graduated senior Teagan Gustafson led the local cadre; qualifying for the National Finals in three events: Goat tying, breakaway roping and girls cutting.
Gustafson would have her best finish in the first round of the goat tying event, where she ended up 17th. When she competed Monday night, she posted the sixth fastest time in the event. In girls cutting she’d place as high as No. 24. Meanwhile, she’d place No. 60 in breakaway roping.
Brother Gannon Gustafson, who just finished his sophomore year at YME, competed in boys cutting where he’s pick up identical No. 53 placings in both of the two rounds of competition.
