Area residents and students are encouraged to attend a freemeal and meeting on Tuesday, September 25 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Stevens County Historical Society Building, 116 West 6th Street, in Morris. The event is being convened by Clean Up the River Environment (CURE), a Montevideo, MN watershed based non-profit. An “Open Space” meeting format will be followed where the agenda of the meeting will be determined by those who show up. Participants are asked to pre-register in order to plan for enough food. For more information and to pre-register call the CURE office at 1-877-269-2873 or e-mail email@example.com
The theme of Tuesday’s meeting will center on responses to the question: How Can We Build more Vibrant and Sustainable Communities? The meeting is one of several that have been convened by CURE in the past year in the Upper Minnesota River Watershed. The open space meeting format helps communities to identify where grassroots energy and enthusiasm lies. As a result of previous meetings held in Clinton, Morris and Granite Falls, several new projects have emerged with citizens working on community pizza ovens, community meeting spaces, disc golf courses and river portages.
The Morris Listening Session is one of four events being scheduled with support from the Rockefeller Family Foundation in an effort to bring citizens together to discuss sustainable design, sustainable practices, and our Minnesota Energy Future.
CURE is celebrating its 20th year as an award-winning non-profit organization focused on citizen led approaches to restoring, protecting and celebrating the Upper Minnesota River watershed. For more information, call CURE toll free at 1-877-269-2873 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
