  • Football: Eagles tag Sting with third loss

  • LqPV 35, YME 6
At least Lac qui Parle Valley didn't put up 40 points.

Aside from that, Yellow Medicine East's third straight loss came about much as the last two did. That's not to say that, for at least two quarters, there wasn't hope—but LqPV was just bigger, faster, more physical and made less mistakes than the Sting.

Aside from that, Yellow Medicine East's third straight loss came about much as the last two did. That's not to say that, for at least two quarters, there wasn't hope—but LqPV was just bigger, faster, more physical and made less mistakes than the Sting.
The hope was still there by halftime after YME scored to cut the lead to 14-6 and kept LqPV just inches away from scoring their third touchdown of half as time expired.
But football, when another team is physically more dominate, is a game of attrition. And as the third quarter came and went, with the Eagles adding another score, YME was beginning to show the effects of a weakening resistance.
The fourth quarter saw only two more scores tacked up by LqPV and YME headed for the showers. The game went by quickly. The Sting lost 35-6.
LqPV improved to 2-1 in the West Central Conference and overall. YME falls to 0-3.
Eagles quarterback Dylan Erickson threw touchdown passes to Josh Witte and Colby Siegert, and Erickson also ran for a score.
Austin Haas and Lucas Mortenson also ran in TDs for the Eagles.
Aaron Lalim scored the Stings' only touchdown on a 1 yard run.
The Eagles forced five fumbles en route to overpowering the Sting.
As a team, LqPV rushed for 235 yards on 46 carries, while the Sting tallied 86 yards on 34 carries. YME recorded 10 first-down plays compared to 15 for the Eagles.
The Sting now prepare for their homecoming game this Friday against Montevideo. Here, your favorite team has a shot. This isn't the same Montevideo team that went undefeated in the regular season a year ago. This season the Thunder Hawks are, like YME, 0-3. This season Montevideo has lost to Paynesville (42-0), Sauk Centre (39-6) and Benson (46-6).
