  • Judith Marvel Gwendolyn Dybsand Keegan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 29, 2012 surrounded by family.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, October 5 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 6730 Nicollet Ave S. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service at church.
    Interment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Granite Falls, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 6.

         Marvel was born on August 24, 1920 near Sacred Heart to Arthur and Esther Dybsand and grew up on the family farm just east of town. In 1944 she married Thomas A. Keegan at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Granite Falls. After the war they moved to Fresno, CA returning to Minneapolis in the late 1950s. After the tragic death of her husband in 1965, she returned to school and graduated from St. Catherine’s College with both Bachelors and Masters degrees in education. She worked as a Special Education teacher for the Minneapolis Public Schools before retiring in the early 1980s. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Mary Margaret; her husband; and her parents.
        She is survived by her son, Thomas D.; grandchildren, Thomas K. (Molly), Joseph (Jennifer), Michael C. (Tara) and Katie (Ed); great-grandchildren, William, Samuel, Claire, Cora; nieces and nephews: Michael L., Marcia, Sharon and Kate Keegan; and many other family and friends.
