YME 3, LqPV 0
Yellow Medicine East captured their third win of the season and their second win in conference play with a confident 3-0 sweep of Lac qui Parle Valley Tuesday night at LqPV high school.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Sting and completes a season sweep of the Eagles—a team YME has used for two of their three wins this year.
As always, Chyanne Sand led the Sting offensively with 13 kills and two ace blocks. She was followed by her young counterpart, eighth-grader Makayla Dyrdahl who added five kills on thirteen attacks with two errors. Freshman Maddie Hagert was a similar 12-of-14 hitting and was third on the team with three kills.
Meanwhile, defensively, the Sting were sound and busy on the back line—where the team shoveled 73 digs on the night. Leading the team was the freshman Hagert with 22, then senior Nena McCalla with 17, then fellow senior Danie Roden with 13. Alexis Peters managed to get to eight, while Sand handled seven and Kalli Knudson corraled six.
Passing for the Sting were Peters and Knudson. Peters, a junior, handled 32-of-33 effectively and dished out 11 assists. Knudson, a freshman, was 24-of-25 with four assists.
