Robert Knox, 82, of Granite Falls, died Monday, October 15, 2012, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 18, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church with burial at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Robert Elmer Knox was born September 11, 1930, in Montevideo, the son of J. Elmer and Karna (Jenson) Knox. He attended school in both Granite Falls and Owatonna. Following school Robert worked at a dairy farm in Coon Rapids for several years
Robert joined the service in 1952 and served his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was honorably discharged in August of 1954. Robert returned to the Granite Falls area following his military service. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family, feeding the ducks and birds at the river and loved fishing. He took great pride in serving in the military.
Due to illness, Robert was residing at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, where he received outstanding care and made many new friends.
He is survived by his siblings: Barbara Musil of Apple Valley; Harold Knox of Eatontown, New Jersey; James (Patsy) Knox of Perryton, Texas; Keith Knox of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Donna (Gary) Halvorson of Granite Falls; step sister Delores Kelm and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosemary Anderson, niece Cindy Halvorson, step brother Ordell Kelm and step sister Lavilla Magnuson.
Arrangements were with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
