  •     Orrin A. Thompson, 73, of Salunga, PA and formerly of Revillo, SD, passed away at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, following a brief illness.  
        The memorial service will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church in rural Revillo on November 3, 2012 at 11 a.m.  Burial will be at Zoar Lutheran Cemetery, following the service.
        Orrin was born in Madison on December 15, 1938. He was the son of the late Conrad and Marit (Mebust) Thompson.
        He was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church of rural Revillo, SD.  Orrin graduated from Revillo High School in 1956. He attended St. Olaf College for 1 year, then entered the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Upon completing basic training, he went to Technical School for Electronics at Keesler Air Force Base, MS. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 31, 1962 at McGuire AFB, NJ. Following his discharge, Orrin was united in marriage to Joyce Smith, and to this union one child was born.  He worked in Lancaster, PA, for RCA.  In 1972 he was united in marriage to Valeria Newcomer and returned to Marietta, where they started farming and raising their 4 children. He farmed for many years and then worked for Lund Implement of Madison.  He moved back to PA in 1997 and  worked for Lucent Tech. of Reading until retirement.        
        He is survived by three  sons: Christopher Thompson (Marsha), Clarkfield, Jay Thompson, Revillo, SD, Andrew Thompson (Mickie), Bellingham, and two daughters: Kristi (Matt Darkes), Reamstown, PA, Nicole (Jayson Sheetz), New Holland, PA; eight grandchildren: Christina, Amber, and Conrad Thompson, of Clarkfield Aleigha Thompson, of Odessa, Abigail and Kalob Arends of Bellingham, Dylan and Thomas Sheetz of New Holland, PA;  one brother, Donald Thompson (Louise), Stowe, VT; one niece, Kimberly (Gene Groninger), Shingle Springs, CA; and one great niece, Allie Groninger of Shingle Springs, CA.
