The best way to stay warm on December 8, according to the Young Families of Clarkfield, is by running the Santa Dash 5k.
The Young Families of Clarkfield will host a 5k run/walk called the Santa Dash! on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Clarkfield EMS Building and North Park.
Wearing holiday costumes to the event is encouraged and a noon meal will be served.
The Young Families of Clarkfield is a community group that was founded this past summer with the focus of raising money to improve the playground at North Park.
The organization is led by Katie Zuraff—a local mother and wife of Clarkfield Lutheran Pastor Chris Zuraff—with the city of Clarkfield acting as the groups fiscal agent.
To date the group has raised $4,387.95 with $20,000 being their goal. The group recently won a Clarkfield Area Community Foundation grant of $500 and received $2,500 in funding from a Clarkfield business.
Registration for the 5k race costs $25. Registration for other races will be $5. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done at www.clarkfield.org, or at the group’s facebook page. Pre-registration gaurentees runners a free Santa Dash! t-shirt and goody bag.
The day begins with check-in at 9:30 a.m. Children’s races begin with a Diaper Dash for crawling infants and a Tot Trot for walking children before the Fun Run and Santa Dash 5k wrap up the day.
Promotions promise “Fun for all ages! HoHo hope you’ll join us.”
