Rounding out the top-10 easiest-to-train breeds are: Labrador Retriever, fourth; Border Collie, fifth; German Shepherd, sixth; Boxers, seventh; Goldendoodles/Labradoodles, eight; Shih Tzus, ninth; Dachshunds, 10th.

The survey also found that the age of a dog was actually a more important factor than breed. Participants said senior dogs - regardless of whether they are purebred or if they are mixed breed - take the least time and effort to train. The trainers said puppies and shelter/rescue dogs are the most difficult.
