ACGC 88, YME 43
The Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team was trapped Thursday night by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in an 88-43 conference loss in Grove City.
The Falcons set a press Thursday that unrelentingly harassed the Sting backcourt who couldn’t manage to spring the trap and ACGC ran up a 34-point halftime lead.
It was the fifth straight victory for the Falcons who are a surprise in the West Central Conference at 4-0 in the league and 6-1 overall.
For YME, sophomore guard Blake Lindstrom continues to build confidence offensively and nailed four three-pointers to finish with a team-high 12 points. Meanwhile, junior Joe Sannerud turned in his best performance of the season with eight points; scoring two threes.
Tyson Velde led the team in rebounding with seven and tied for the team lead in steals with Ted Sjurseth: each recorded two. Chase Richter led the team in assists with four.
Three Falcons scored in double figures, led by Taylor Larson with 22 points. Jacob Belgum scored 17 and Dylan Hoerchler finished two steals shy of a triple-double. He had 16 points, 10 assists and 8 steals.
The Sting return to action, still hunting for their first win, just after the New Year with a game at Minnewaska on Thursday, Jan. 3. They’re then back at Espeland the day after to play just their second home game of the season against Minneota.
