Claire Stringer, 93, of Granite Falls, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.
A private family memorial service will be held.

Claire Antonie (Hanish) Fenlon Stringer was born September 23, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Frederick and Isabelle (Biglin) Hanish. She graduated from Pelham, NY High School in 1939 and attended and worked at the City College of New York in the early 1940s. On January 2, 1943, Claire married Peter Fenlon in Pelham, New York. To this union two daughters and one son were born. She married William Stringer on March 24, 1973 in San Antonio, Texas.
Claire worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper. After moving to Granite Falls in 1990, she worked at the Granite Falls Library from 1991 to 1998. Claire enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, gardening, and cooking. She was a lifelong volunteer beginning with Officers’ Wives Club activities, the PTA, Cub Scouts and Aggie Moms in Texas. She was a hospital volunteer in California and Louisiana. In Granite Falls she was a volunteer with senior citizen activities and enjoyed doing the pre-school and elementary Story Hour at the Granite Falls Library.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kubly of Granite Falls and Barbara Fenlon of San Antonio, Texas; sister Doris Peterson of Westlake, Louisiana; grandchildren, Matt Kubly of Granite Falls, Brad Fenlon of Universal City, Texas, Andrew (Janet) Kubly of Crystal and Erin (Steve) Rodgers of New Brighton; great-grandchildren, Kaia Rodgers, Joseph Kubly, Avery Kubly, Sadie Rodgers and Nathan Rodgers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, son, John Fenlon, and son-in-law, Gary Kubly preceded her in death.
