Authorities have announced that they believe the body found in a burned cabin in the San Bernardino Mountains belongs to Christopher Dorner, a man accused of murdering four people in a vendetta against Los Angeles police officers, CNN reports. Dorner was involved in a firefight with police yesterday in the Big Bear Lake area. He fled to the cabin, which caught fire after police tossed smoke devices inside. The fire blazed for hours, and charred remains were found inside last night.
It is not known when it will be confirmed if the remains are Dorner's. SWAT teams looking for Dorner have stood down, but police protection for Dorner's potential victims will remain in place until the remains are positively identified.
    Quote of note
"Hadiya’s parents, Nate and Cleo, are in this chamber tonight, along with more than two dozen Americans whose lives have been torn apart by gun violence. They deserve a vote. They deserve a vote. Gabby Giffords deserves a vote. The families of Newtown deserve a vote. The families of Aurora deserve a vote. The families of Oak Creek and Tucson and Blacksburg, and the countless other communities ripped open by gun violence -- they deserve a simple vote. They deserve a simple vote." - President Barack Obama, as part of the State of the Union address.
