  •     We wanted to address recent radio ads that have been played in our area.  It’s disappointing that this kind of divisive campaigning has continued into our legislative session.  This is a time for us to work together, gather input from our constituents, and solve problems so we can balance our state budget and avoid another devastating shutdown.
These ads are paid for by big corporations that want to defend the status quo. We are interested in listening to our constituents and putting together a budget that will help our local communities.  That means investing in education, property tax relief, and balancing the budget without more borrowing from our schools.  But it also means getting past partisan politics and looking for solutions.
We cannot continue to tear each other down and attack one another for our different positions.  Instead, we should be finding common ground and working together to move Minnesota forward.  Over the past decade, we’ve been stuck in a continuing cycle of budget deficits that require us to make last minute fixes and use stop gap measures to keep Minnesota afloat.  Now is the time to change that.  Now is the time to make positive changes that put Minnesota on solid footing while investing in the things we value most.
We are ready to do just that.  But we can only move Minnesota forward if we put partisan rhetoric behind us.
