  • Calling all river enthusiasts, river history buffs, naturalists, paddlers, and self-proclaimed “river rats”! Ashley Hanson and Andrew Gaylord, Directors of Place Base Productions and the artists that produced the 2012 Meandering River Walk, need your help to create a community-based paddling theater production that will take place on the river this May, in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources State Park Celebration.
Hanson and Gaylord will be holding a Story Swap Workshop to gather ideas and share stories about the legends, history, geology, and natural environment of the Minnesota River, focusing on the stretch of river from Granite Falls to the Upper Sioux Agency State Park. If you know a thing or two about the Minnesota River, like to tell or hear stories, or just share your love of the river with your fellow river enthusiasts, attend their Story Swap Workshop on Saturday, March 23 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. at the K.K. Berge Building. Snacks and beverages provided.
Hanson and Gaylord will be returning to Granite Falls on April 5 and 6 to hold auditions for this “one of a kind” production. They will be looking for 10-15 actors, musicians and river enthusiasts to assist with the production. Auditions are open to all; no experience or preparation necessary.
If you have any questions or if you would like to sign-up for auditions in advance, please contact Ashley Hanson; meanderingriverwalk@gmail.com or 952.486.0533.
