Robert Lien, of Maynard, died on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 79.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Wang Lutheran Church of Rural Maynard. Pastor Brad Larson officiated with interment in the church cemetery.
Robert Vernon Lien was born on September 19, 1933 in Wang Township, Renville County, to Bernard and Alice (Hoverstad) Lien. He was baptized and confirmed at Wang Lutheran Church. He attended and graduated from Maynard School. Robert was united in marriage to Donna Mae Bakker on May 2, 1953 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of Renville. They lived on his home farm which became a century farm in 1978. He was also a real estate agent, and drove a Maynard school bus for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, playing the violin, listening to classical music, and spending time with grandchildren. He was a life long member of Wang Lutheran Church where he was active as an usher, and on various boards and committees.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae; three children: Stanton Lien of Coon Rapids, Kathy Jo Holen of Sun City, AZ, and David (Sue) Lien of Maynard; four grandchildren: Andrea Lien, Jeremy Lien, Chad Holen, and Christopher Holen; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris (Jack) Brambilla of Shakopee, and Gladys Ann (Bryce) Nelson of Montevideo; and numerous extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents Bernard and Alice Lien.
