Join the residents of the Upper Minnesota River Valley to bring stories of the river to life in a one-of-a-kind Paddling Theater experience. Ashley Hanson & Andrew Gaylord, Directors of Place Base Productions & the artists that produced the 2012 Meandering River Walk, need your help to create this community-based paddling theater production that will take place on the river during Minnesota River History Weekend & State Water Trails 50th Anniversary Celebration May 18.
On April 5 and 6, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. til noon, respectively, open auditions and drop-in volunteer sign-ups, will be held at the K.K. Berge building. PlaceBase Productions is looking for 12-15 actors, many experienced paddlers and additional musician, singers, storytellers, dancers, visual artists, river-enthusiasts, costume and prop-makers, volunteers and project assistants. No experience necessary and all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. However, principal actors need to feel comfortable in, on and near the water.

Rehearsals will take place weekends in April and May. The performance will take place on May 18 for CURE’s Minnesota River History Days.
