Minnesota's Machinery Museum, Hanley Falls will host their Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the museum. The guest speaker for the evening will be Rev. Del Begalka from Mankato who will entertain and talk about the history of John Deere and Samuel Colt.
Begalka was born and raised on a 700 acre farm north of Brookings South Dakota. The youngest of three sons, he became more and more aware of a desire to become a Lutheran pastor. He entered the ministry in 1965 at Smith's Mill and Alma City near Mankato. He has served in a number of places and is now retired in Mankato but continues active in the preaching ministry.
In retirement, he and his wife are very busy playing music at nursing homes, retirement homes and the like. His wife, Caroline, plays an electronic accordion and he a bass horn. They carry about 7,000 melodies, mostly music from years ago including old-time. Del has a reputation as a skilled story teller. He is also an amateur historian with presentations on the history of the John Deere company, Ford Motor Company, Jesse James, Samuel Colt and others.
The evening will begin with a catered dinner at 7:00 pm (roast beef and baked ham and fixings) followed by the museum's annual meeting and program. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased in advance and reserved by April 4 by calling 507-768-3522 or emailing email@example.com
