Dorothy A. Larson, 79, formerly of Montevideo, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Dorothy was visiting family in Minnesota at the time of her death.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, April 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, officiated by Pastor Lori Wold, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd, Lac qui Parle Co.
Dorothy Larson was born May 11, 1933 in Chippewa County, to parents Allen and Rose (Kling) Olson. She attended country school and graduated from Montevideo High School. Following her graduation, she worked for a lawyer in Montevideo. Dorothy married Harold Larson on December 17, 1955 in Montevideo. They were the parents of six children. Harold and Dorothy farmed south of Boyd until Harold’s death in 1991. At that time she moved to Arizona.
While living in Minnesota, she worked at the Clarkfield Care Center and sold ‘Christmas Around the World.’ This enabled her to do much traveling around the world. Dorothy worked as an Activities Director in a health care facility for many years in Arizona. She retired about 12 years ago when her eyesight failed her. She remained in Arizona until her death. She also enjoyed making quilts and made them for all her family.
She is survived by three sons, one daughter, and two grandchildren: Greg Larson of Grand Junction, CO; Brad Larson of Apache Junction, AZ; Brian Larson of Vancouver, WA; Gail Larson of Plymouth; Zachary and Corbin Olesen. She is also survived by a brother, Royal (Norma) Olson of Montevideo; two sisters: Leona Lyngen of Montevideo and June Krogstad of Granite Falls; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, her husband, and her parents.
