The five county CEE-IV Drug Task Force will be hosting a parent and student forum to educate the community on common drug trends and mental health needs of adolescents at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 in the YME Auditorium.
“The hope is that parents are aware of the challenges adolescents face and are informed of the supportive resources in the area so they are able to better support their children. The parents knowledge and support will encourage the student's success,” said YME Social Worker Charlynn Dahl.
Dan Gentile, of Woodland Centers in Willmar, is expected to be in attendance to discuss how students struggle with mental health issues, which may affect their functioning at home, in the community, and at school. He will also be discussing the importance of healthy sleep patterns and the effects of sleep deprivation. The forum is open to all parents and students in grades 6-12.
