  • Montevideo’s eighth-grade boys traveling basketball team won a regional tournament in New London Saturday to qualify for the state Pacesetter tournament June 23.

  • Montevideo’s eighth-grade boys traveling basketball team won a regional tournament in New London Saturday to qualify for the state Pacesetter tournament June 23.
    The Montevideo team, coached by Jon Dreyer and Mark Kilibarda, defeated Fergus Falls 38-32 and New London-Spicer 35-25 to advance to the championship game. In the title game, they beat Willmar 34-30.
    Over the past six weeks, the team has won tournaments in Wadena, Perham and Granite Falls. Their only loss was to Willmar in the Montevideo tourney.
