Yellow Medicine East used nine walks to scratch out their first win of the season, 8-6 against Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
Three walks, two Tiger errors and a two-run single by Danie Roden fueled the Sting’s 6-run fourth inning.
It was the first loss for Morris/Chokio-Alberta after starting with four wins. They outhit the Sting 10 to 4.
Senior Ally Trudel pitched the win. She gave up six runs (two earned) on 12 hits with a strikeout and one walk.
Nena McCalla and Allie Trudel each had two hits for YME in the West Central Conference victory.
The Sting are now 1-1 on the season and will face Renville County West Thursday in Granite Falls.

Minnewaska junior Mady Phillips threw all 7 innings with 8 strikeouts for the win and 1 walk. Senior Allie Trudel also went 7 with 6 whiffs and two walks in Yellow Medicine East’s home opener.
Over the next two weeks the Sting have scheduled seven playing dates Monday through Friday with three of those doubleheaders, a total of 10 games.
Thursday was also the head coaching debut for Jen Sneller, who has coached the Sting JV the pass seven springs and replaces long-time softball coach Kristi Klassen.
