You’ve probably spotted it on social media today — an unusual full-page ad apparently placed by Bruce Springsteen Inc. in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet:
According to Backstreets.com, it was Bruce’s idea to place the ad in recognition of the “reception he has received in Sweden over the years.” But some have already started to second-guess the nature of the ad, noting that it looks, well, kind of farewell-ish.
Not to insinuate that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are planning to wrap up the Wrecking Ball tour and ride off into the sunset — Bruce may just be feeling nostalgic and grateful, which tends to happen to People of a Certain Age who are lucky enough to have stuff to be nostalgic and grateful for. But it’s hard to deny a certain air of finality.
So what do you think? Is this a sign of things to come (or not to come), or just a nice gesture? You can allay our fears or whip us into a frenzy of worry in the comments.
