An Upper Sioux Community (USC) member was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident after suffering a medical emergency that resulted in his van leaving the road and travelling down a steep embankment at approximately 9:45 a.m., Saturday May 11.
According to information from Upper Sioux Police Department, the medical emergency caused Brent Earl Anderson, 62, to lose consciousness and veer off Highway 67 travelling westbound at approximately 570th St. near the old Firefly Casino.
The automobile also contained two elderly occupants who were transported to Granite Falls Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
In addition to the Upper Sioux Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to the scene and were assisted by the Granite Falls Fire Department, Granite Falls Ambulance, and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff department.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Minnesota state patrol and the Upper Sioux Police Department.
