The Yellow Medicine East Running Club is asking people to lace them up again this year for their annual Granite Falls Rodeo Run and Western Fest Walk on Saturday, June 22.
The event features a five kilometer and one mile run while also including a one and two mile walk. Races for kids of all ages are also included in the event.
The kids races include a 25, 50, 100, 400 and 800 meter run. Better yet, the kid’s races are free to any kid who wishes to enter.

The cost for registration by June 15 is $14. On race day the cost to race is $18. Registration starts on race day at 7:30 a.m
The annual Rodeo Run and Western Fest Walk will start at the Kilowatt Community Center, where they will have locker rooms and showers available for all runners. After the race, runners and their families may use the Community Center’s pool facilities for a $2 fee.
T-Shirts will be awarded to all entrants and awards will be handed out to the top two finishers in each age group. Top honors will be awarded to the overall male and female winners in the 5k run.
Last year, 89 runners competed, which was the biggest turnout for the event ever. Jacob Carroll, a Yellow Medicine East cross country and track star and Tori Cowls were the overall winners of the 5k race with times of 20:00.08 and 20:20, respectively.
