This summer, a new name has been added to the workforce at the Advocate Tribune.
Allison Carmany has accepted an internship through the summer. She is the daughter of Steve and Leanne Carmany – known to most as Pastor Steve and Mrs. Carmany – and the sister of Alyssa, Andrew, and Elliot Carmany.
Allison will be a senior at Yellow Medicine East this coming school year. She enjoys being involved at school in a variety of sports and clubs. In the fall, she is busy running cross country and writing about Homecoming week for the online school newspaper. She plays basketball in the winter, and participates in softball in the spring. On Saturdays in the late winter/early spring, you'd probably find Allison at a Speech meet, talking to walls and competing in the Creative Expression category.
“I try to be involved in as many different activities as possible because it gives me the chance to use all of my diverse skills,” she said.
Lunch time throughout the school year is often spent at student council meetings or FFA planning sessions with the rest of the FFA officers. Her favorite part of any school week though is going to her FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Huddle on Tuesday mornings before school.
“The FCA Huddle has become a special time where I get to talk about faith with my teammates and classmates. It’s a time to have fun discussing God with others my age,” said Allison.
When she does find free time, Allison loves reading, spending quality time with her friends and family, and watching her favorite TV shows, The Office and The Big Bang Theory. Although she is a little bit nervous about her new internship, she's mostly just excited to get started on this new adventure.
