GF 10, Minneota 3
Austin Vikander exploded Monday night wrecking Minneota with two doubles, a triple and a home run while leading the Granite Falls Legion baseball team to a 10-3 win in Minneota.
Vikander's four hits were part of an 11-hit night for Granite Falls, which scored four runs in the top of the third and five runs in the sixth to maintain control throughout the game.
“We had 12 total hits, which was great to see after having a week off,” said Post 69 manager Nick Richter. “We have had 22 hits our last two games, and that was what we have been lacking. Austin had a heck of a game at the plate, he came up just a single short from hitting for a cycle. We had another solid defensive game, and Dylan pitched a nice game for us again. We have been playing well all summer, and hopefully we can continue hitting the ball the way we have been.”
Dylan Johnson tossed a complete game for Granite Falls, striking out six, walking one and allowing three runs.
Alex Guttormsson started and took the loss for Minneota, giving up eight runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings pitched. Mike Dwire entered in the sixth and went the rest of the way for Minneota.
Justin VanKeulen's double was the only extra base hit for Minneota, which totaled six hits in the game. Guttormsson and Josh Bot each drove in runs in the game.
Minneota (0-4 overall) will continue its search for the first win on the summer in its next contest at Dawson on Thursday.
