Marlene Ann Jensen, 64, of Waseca, died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 16, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Paige Whitney and Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating. dennisfuneralhomes.com
Born in St. Cloud on April 19, 1949, Marlene was the daughter of Carl and Helen (Tammen) Folkerts. Growing up she attended school in Annandale, and later earned her degree from St. Cloud State University. On November 28, 1970 Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Dan Jensen. Together they lived and worked in Benson from 1972 until 1981 when they moved to Waseca. Marlene worked as a speech clinician for almost 35 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also volunteered at Hansel & Gretel Preschool, for the Lutheran Brotherhood, and played in the Grace Lutheran Bell Choir and served on the Grace Lutheran Church Council. Recently Marlene was attending North Waseca Lutheran Church. She will be fondly remembered by many friends in both congregations.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Dan, of Waseca; two sons, Michael Jensen and his wife, Melissa, of Hastings, and Matt Jensen and his wife, Amy Littel, of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Thomas and Anna Jensen and Emma and Curran Littel-Jensen; and one sister, Lori Carter and her husband, Dr. Ken Carter, of Granite Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one aunt, Louise Tammen.
