  • Friday’s match up: YME (0-2, 0-1) at Melrose (1-1, 0-0), 6 p.m. at St. John’s University
Last match up: 2011, 27-6 Melrose victory
Dutchmen overview: The Melrose Dutchmen are hoping to turn the tides, returning home after a 44-15 loss to ACGC. Different from other opponents YME has faced so far this season, the Dutchmen utilize their passing game more often, averaging a little over 15 passing attempts a game from junior quarterback Matthew Beste. Their 14-12 win at their season-opener against Benson was due mostly in part to being able to hold off touchdown conversions and preventing a late-game field goal attempt. Although they endured a heavy loss against ACGC last Friday, the Melrose defense still prevented five of the seven touchdown conversion attempts by the Falcons.
Sting overview: The last match up with Melrose may have been forgettable, but it was the first of the 20-game losing streak the Sting currently find themselves in. While they sit at a 0-2 record so far, YME has been able to reverse the problems that have plagued the team the last two seasons, currently boasting no lost fumbles and only two interceptions total. Their last game, although a loss, was an impressive game for both Austin Vikander, with a 91-yard touchdown run, and the Sting defense, with eight quarterback sacks. With a tighter offense and fewer errors, the Sting are looking at a chance at snapping their losing streak.
