  • Friday's match up: YME (0-3, 0-2) at Montevideo (1-2, 0-0), 7 p.m.
Last match up: 2012, 35-20 Montevideo victory
Thunderhawks overview: Montevideo started the season with a pair of losses against Paynesville and Sauk Centre, both games separated by at least 16 points. Against Benson last week, however, Montevideo was the team with the solid lead, defeating the Braves in a sound 34-13 match up. A couple players to watch out for include Markus Kranz, who has run for five touchdowns so far this season, and quarterback Troy Diggins, who not only averages 125 passing yards a game, but is known to run the ball himself in a bind. Montevideo has beat YME four of the last five times they have faced each other, outscoring the Sting by an average of 15 points a game.
Sting overview: On the wrong side of a 21-game slump, the pressure builds for a win in the Sting's favor. While no where near the record longest losing streak (82 losses in a row by Glascock County High School in Georgia), a win never hurt. Although 0-3 for the season, this year's team is improved. There are fewer interceptions, fewer fumbles and the opposing teams aren't running away with the games. What the Sting would benefit from is more momentum. YME has yet to score early in a game this season, with most of their touchdowns coming late into the second half, while their opponents are scoring and building right away.
