Daryl "Butch" Coleman, age 72, of St. James died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lophas and Rev. Matthew Natsis. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Daryl William Coleman, "Butch", was born May 14, 1941, in St. James, the son of William and Erna (Kriesch) Coleman. Butch grew up in St. James and graduated from St. James High School in 1959 where he excelled at football, basketball and baseball. On October 29, 1960, Butch was united in marriage to Joyce Mishler in St. James where they made their home and raised their three sons. Butch worked for S-T Industries for a short time before going to work at South Central Electric where he worked as a lineman then foreman until his retirement in May 2001. Butch enjoyed fast pitch softball where he played third base, gardening, fishing, hunting and sports events. Butch always had the coffee pot on for family and friends that stopped to visit. He loved spending time with his family, grand kids and great-grandkids. And particularly enjoyed watching his grandkids in their many activities.
Butch is survived by his wife, Joyce Coleman of St. James; sons, William (Laura) Coleman of St. James, David (Jodi) Coleman of Fairfax;
grandchildren, Tom Coleman of Mankato, Amanda Coleman and special friend Luke Walling of Milroy, Jacob Coleman of Redwood Falls, Gage Coleman of Fairfax, Austin Coleman of St. James; great-grandchildren, Brystal and Brennyn Walling of Milroy; brother, Duke (Colleen) Nessler of St. James; sister, Barb Leewright of Manly; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Jon; parents Erna and William; brother Pete; and sisters, Lollie and Gen.
