The mayors of Boston and St. Louis may not be making any World Series bets, but breweries from both cities are.

Jim Koch, founder of Samuel Adams, and Dan Kopman, Co-founder of Schafly Beer in St. Louis has entered into a friendly wager.

Schafly seems to be very confident in the Cardinal’s chances because they also have a bet going with the Harpoon Brewery.

In the bet between Samuel Adams and Schafly, Koch will have to send two cases of Boston lager and a lobster dinner to Kopman if the Cardinals win. If the Red Sox win, Kopman will send Schlafly Pale ale and a dinner from Pappy’s BBQ Ribs.

But, the big part of the bet is the winner will be flown to the loser’s brewery to brew a beer of their choice. So, if the Red Sox win, expect to see Jim Koch brewing in St. Louis.

In the bet between Harpoon and Schafly, the losing brewery will have to put the winning brewery’s beer on tap in the brewery’s tasting room until the beer is gone.

For the record, I expect Koch to be enjoying a Harpoon IPA on draft at Schafly as he brews a special batch of “St. Louis Lager,” after the Red Sox beat the Cardinals’ in six games.
