  •     As Chairperson of Young Families of Clarkfield, I am elated to tell you that Young Families of Clarkfield, along with over sixty generous donors, have completed an impressive project in our community. In September of 2012, Young Families of Clarkfield set out to raise $20,000 in our community in order to purchase and install new playground equipment for North Park that would be safe and suitable for children of multiple ages.
As of September of 2013, we reached our fundraising goal of $20,000. As of October 23, all new equipment was installed and ready for use. The children in Clarkfield have been busy playing and enjoying the new playground and parents, grandparents and caregivers have been connecting at the park as a result. This project has not only proven to provide a safe place for our children to play, it has brought our community together through a common goal and fellowship.
Most of our donors are within the Clarkfield community. Others are located in Montevideo, Granite Falls, Marshall and the surrounding areas. All others located outside of our immediate area have a personal tie to the Clarkfield area. I am in awe at the generosity within and around our community!
Donors have given money, time, labor or resources to our organization. All gifts have been cheerfully given and gratefully received.
Our biggest contributor in this project has been F&M Bank. Throughout the past year, F&M has donated over $8,000 in a bighearted sign of their support for our organization.
In addition to a monetary donation of $1,500, the City of Clarkfield has donated their time, equipment, resources and workers to help see this project through.
Another group that has given many hours in volunteer work and allowed us the use of their equipment is the Clarkfield Fire Department. In addition to in kind donations, the Fire Department has given $1,000.
Prairie Grain Partners in Clarkfield is another business that has donated both $1,000 and the use of equipment and workers.
One of our most recent gifts was a check in the amount of $500 donated by the Anderson Tongen Post 559 of the Hazel Run Legion. This is the second $500 check received from the Legion post for a total of $1,000.
Our final generous donors who have given $1,000 are Bruce and Vicki Strong of Woodbury, Minn, who donated in honor of their three grandchildren, two of whom reside in Clarkfield and one in Chicago.
Thanks to all of our openhanded donors and willing volunteers, we have purchased, installed and enjoyed beautiful and safe equipment in our scenic North Park.
For a full list of donors please visit our park, look us up on facebook or see www.clarkfield.org.
Page 2 of 2 -     As a gesture of thanks, Young Families of Clarkfield will be hosting a GRAND OPENING of the new playground equipment in North Park this Thursday, October 31 at 12:15 p.m. The students from Clarkfield Area Charter School will be attending our grand opening ceremony and performing the “ribbon breaking” for our new playground. ALL are welcome to attend. Donors are especially welcome and will be recognized during the grand opening ceremony. Cookies and juice will be served.
To all of our donors, please accept my most heartfelt and deepest thank you. Young Families of Clarkfield is forever grateful.
