The Pirates will host Brainerd/Little Falls Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
A five-goal second period propelled Thief River Falls Monday to an 8-0 victory over the Pirates at Crookston Sports Center in a Section 8A matchup. Eight different Prowlers scored goals.
Prowler junior goalie Frances Marshall recorded the shut out with eight saves, including five in the third period.
Pirate freshman goalie Lexie Cormican had 16 saves before being knocked out of the game with an injury late in the second period. Senior goalie Erica Allrich recorded nine saves the rest of the way.
Thief River Falls took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission with a power play goal just 1:30 into the game by Kora Torkelson and a goal by Emily Bergland with 4:29 remaining.
The Prowlers' Morgan Martell got a shorthanded goal just 44 seconds into the second period, while Tessa Jorde and Kira Johnson scored goals at 5:14 and 7:51 marks to give Thief River Falls a 5-0 lead. Sylvia Marolt then scored on a shorthanded goal with 2:51 left before Madison Poole popped in the seventh goal with just three seconds left in the period.
Kaylee Eskeli finished out the scoring with about three minutes left in the third period.
The Pirates got banged up in their second game of the season with Cormican, sophomore Leah Trostad and freshman Jayden Allrich each having to leave the game with injuries.
Crookston, now 0-2, will host Brainerd/Little Falls Saturday, Nov. 23 with the puck set to drop at 7:30 p.m.
