A pre-trial hearing on Friday, February 7 for the woman believed by authorities to be the mother of two newborns whose remains were found  in South Dakota in an apparent homicide has been postponed.
Kelly Anderson-Person, 34, of Hendricks, formerly of Clarkfield, informed Yellow Medicine County District Judge DuWayne Knutsen that she had retained private council to represent her. As a result, Knutsen ordered that the pre-trial hearing scheduled for the day be moved back.
The Yellow Medicine County Attorney’s filed charges against Anderson-Person for endangering a child stemming from an interview with two South Dakota investigators at her Clarkfield home last August. According to the complaint, she allegedly pointed a gun at her own head, while holding her nine-month old child, after admitting that she disposed of the two infants who were found by authorities in November of 2012 on property located on Fish Lake in Deuel County in eastern South Dakota.
That incident served as the basis for a civil commitment petition filed by the YMC Attorney’s Office. Following an August 28 hearing where her husband was also awarded custody of the child, Anderson-Person was voluntarily committed to an in-patient health facility. She has since been released and is presently free on $6,000 bail under conditions that she has no contact with children and obeys domestic abuse no-contact orders.
