The FedEx truck driver remains in critical condition after a collision on Friday with a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train.
Chad Borka, 46, of Atwater, was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office responded after receiving a call at about 2:00 p.m. reporting a crash between a FedEx delivery truck and a BNSF freight train. The accident occurred at the rail line crossing on Yellow Medicine County Road 39.
According the Sheriff’s Office, Borka was headed South on County Road 39 when he collided with the front of the train, which spun the truck in the opposite direction before coming to a stop.
The conductor and engineer were the only people on the train and were uninjured, according to a press release by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.
The Granite Falls Police, Fire and Ambulance, Minnesota DNR and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
