Mixed media textile artist, Kelly L. Hendrickson, will be the featured artist at the K.K. Berge Gallery through the month of April.
Hendrickson began experimenting with textile art after dyeing her first piece of fabric. From that start she discovered the challenge and joy of working with mixed media. Her motto––”I wonder what would happen if”––creating textile mixed media art changed the way she sees and feels about things around her.
Hendrickson’s art is an invitation to the viewer to see the world, through her perspective, and to enjoy life’s journey together. She draws her inspiration from life including her family, music, nature, and new adventures, to name just a few. And she transforms that inspiration into mixed-media creativity that challenges her to find the right color of fabric, to dye the fabric, and to discover just the right items and additional techniques that will pull a new creation together.
Once Hendrickson determines the materials she begins the work of assembling the final work. This whole process is not a linear trail that folds neatly in line. Plans do not always follow the script, something new pops into her mind, life gets in the way, and the trail begins to change course––most often resulting in something just as good as or even better than the beginning concept.
Hendrickson’s work has traveled in group shows and juried exhibitions all over the United States as well as London, France and the Netherlands. The K.K. Berge Gallery exhibit will remain in place all of April with the opening  reception set for this Friday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, the artist will be in the gallery from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. demonstrating her work.
