    Thursday, April 10, is the big day to check out the Granite Falls Health Fair. The theme this year is “Get Healthy and Lean in 2014”. The Health Fair will be held at the Kilowatt Community Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and there will be 37 health-related exhibitors. It is sponsored by Yellow Medicine East Community Education.  
    YME students in grades 5 and 6 drew posters in a contest to call attention to the Health Fair again this year. Thanks to each of them and congratulations to the following poster winners:

    These posters will each be displayed in the Health Fair brochure, which will be delivered to all mailboxes in the YME School District soon.
    There will be a number of health screenings at the fair. Some of the screenings that are free or available for a small fee include blood pressure checks, height and weight, blood sugar testing, body fat analysis, pulmonary screening, skin cancer screening, hearing screening, lipid profile cholesterol check, glucose check and PSA check.  
    A Granite Falls Hospital Pharmacist will be available to assist with answering questions about your medications so bring your list of medications and questions.  
    There will be food served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will include free pulled pork sandwiches, milk, apples and ice cream. There will be healthy snacks and lots of education available on healthy eating.  
    Yellow Medicine County Family Services will be accepting food or cash donations for the YMC Food Shelf and when you stop by their booth to drop off your donations, you can sign up to win free passes to the Kilowatt Community Center. Tours of the Kilowatt Community Center will also be available by request.
    Come walk through the 12’ long by 10’ wide by 10‘ tall “Strollin’ Colon” and learn about colon cancer screening.
    Sign up for the bicycle give away by the Granite Falls Lions Club, a life jacket by the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Dept, and a “Bright and Healthy Gift Basket” from Affiliated Community Medical Center.
    There will be many other door prizes but you can’t win unless you stop by and sign up so mark it on your calendar today.
