    Montevideo 11, YME 5
    The season and home opener for the Yellow Medicine East softball team ended in a loss, with the Montevideo Thunderhawks finishing the night with 11 runs.
    The Thunderhawk’s Kiersti Grey was credited with the win after pitching five innings, despite giving up nine hits to the Sting.
    Hailey Enstad went 3-for-3, with two runs and two RBIs. Megan Odegard had two singles as well as a run.
    Allison Carmany and Allie Zieske also supplied an RBI apiece, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the steady runs produced by Montevideo, who scored a run in five of the seven innings.
    Montevideo was led by Hannah Kuno with four hits and two RBIs, followed by Kelsey Olson with three hits and three RBIs.

    The 10-run rule was invoked to end the season-opener baseball game, as pinch-runner Bryce Maurice of Montevideo crossed home plate in the sixth inning.
    Logan DeBlieck singled twice out of three at bats, producing two RBIs for the Sting. Dylan Johnson hit for the team’s other RBI, and Austin Vikander hit a triple, but never made it to home plate.
    Montevideo had 15 hits, including three hits each from Jeff Rohloff, Zac Enevoldsen and Jordan Thompson.
    Jordan Thompson pitched nine strikeouts for the Thunderhawks over the five innings he pitched, and was also credited with the win.
    Blake Lindstrom pitched the first three innings for the Sting, giving up six hits and three runs.
