    Montevideo 13, YME 3
The Yellow Medicine East girls softball traveled to neighboring Montevideo, only to lose to the Thunderhawks after the 10-run rule was invoked.

Overall, Montevideo had 17 hits, lead by Ashley Hoehne with a double, three-run homer and five RBIs. Hannah Kuno had a double and three RBIs followed by Kelsey Olson and Alex Tongen with two RBIs each.

    Minnewaska 5, YME 2
The second day of matches against Minnewaska was almost identical to Monday, with the Lakers sweeping the doubles and ending at 5-2.
Shane Nokleby pulled off an impressive win against Carter LaMont, who defeated Nokleby on Monday, in a 2 1/2 hour match that ended 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Matthew Virnig was the other YME point, who defeated Collin Stumpf in just two sets.
The tennis players will head to Montevideo on Thursday afternoon for a 4:30 match, that is if the rain subsides in time.

    Minnewaska 5, YME 2
The first of the back-to-back days of matches against Minnewaska fell out of YME’s favor as the Lakers swept the doubles matches.
Page 2 of 4 - Mathew Virnig and Ammon Bennett supplied the Sting with their two match points at No.3 and No.4 singles, each with a 6-4, 6-2 match.
The first doubles pairing of Cody Speh and Noah Lusti gave Austin Pauly and Joe Weaver a run for their money after winning the second match 7-6 with a 12-10 tie breaker, but ended up losing the third set to give the Lakers the point.

    Baseball
    RCW 7, YME 2
Because of Richter Field still being out of commission, YME travled to Sacred Heart to play their “home” game against the RCW Jaguars on Tuesday.
Neither team scored until the third inning, when RCW got the first two runs off of pitcher Austin Vikander.
The Sting followed up in the bottom of the third by tying up the game at 2-2, but RCW came back in the fourth inning with  four more runs and the eventual win.
YME accumulated three hits during the game from Austin Vikander, Chase Richter and Zach Fischer, each with a single.
Because both Paynesville and YME are plagued with field issues, the Varsity game on Thursday will played at Highland Park at 5:00 p.m. and the JV will play in Clarkfield no sooner than 4:45 p.m.

    MACCRAY Invitational
The track team once again continued their solid running and good fortune, this time at home.

The meet, originally scheduled at MACCRAY, was moved due to track issues in Clara City.
