The Relay for Life Survivor / Caregiver Celebration supper was opened to nearly a full house, as cancer survivors and supporters enjoyed a night of food and the 50s, 60s and 70s musical stylings of Kris Nelson-Jensen and Steve Mahlum.
The event, held on April 12th at Bootlegger’s, was a means of celebration and entertainment, as well as gearing up for the upcoming Relay for Life event.
Marking its 12th year running, Relay For Life of Yellow Medicine County will be held on Friday, June 6th at the Clarkfield Athletic Field. It will run from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. Some of the many activities will include fun at the track with team camp sites, games, food, and silent and LIVE auction at 7:00 p.m. The organizers hope to be having the 5 K Run/walk to start at 6 pm.
The Lions will be serving their hot pork sandwich meal for free will donation at the Fire Hall. The Relay program will start at 8 pm with survivor recognition and luminary lighting at dusk. The luminaries that line the track will be available for pick-up and drop-off sites through June 6th. The luminary bags are meant to serve in honor or in memory of a loved one, and are available for a $10 donation from any team. Pick-up and drop-off locations are at the Granite Falls Hospital, Citizen’s Alliance Bank – Granite Falls, Granite Falls Bank, Friendship Café in Clarkfield, Sanford Canby Clinic Registration Desk in Canby.
