The Thunderhawks swept the Sting in the first round of tennis team sections.
Matthew Virnig faced Riley Emery at No. 4 singles, winning the first set 7-6 with a 7-5 tiebreaker, but eventually losing the next two sets 5-7, 1-6.
James DeJager and Ammon Bennett battled long in their first set, although lost after a 5-7 tie-breaking round and falling 0-6 in the second set against Martin Moore and Tristan Voorhees.
Individual Sections will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Valley on Thursday, giving the Sting another opportunity to be represented in the tournament.

The regular tennis season ended for the Sting at Redwood Valley, as the Cardinals beat YME 5-2.
Matthew Virnig defeated Jaden Rassmussen after falling in the second set at No. 4 singles, marking the only singles win for the Sting.
The No. 1 doubles pairing of James DeJager and Ammon Bennett also won in a three-set match against Cole Pettis and Sam Christianson 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
Including the Redwood Valley match, the Sting team record was 1-10 going into the postseason.
